He is the Deputy Head of Department and the leader of the Fish molecular genetics research group. His research area is the fish molecular genetics/biology, mainly the investigation of the genetic background of natural (protected, endangered or invasive) and cultured fish stocks/populations, breeding and selection programs. He has experiences in marker development, transgenic model animal development, genomic or gene expression analysis of fish species, or development of toxicological test systems. He participates in the education at the MATE in MSc, BSc, ERASMUS,PhD, and Fisheries Specialised Engineering programs as a subject leader of “Fish genomics” and “Fish biotechnology and genome manipulation” subjects. He is supervisor or co-supervisor of several students and PhD students. Besides the educational and scientific tasks, he is responsible for organisation and management of Research and Development (R&D) projects and for exploration and maintenance of partnerships.
