Environmental microbiology, isolation and identification of microorganisms from environmental samples and investigation of microbial communities of extreme environments and hydrocarbon contaminated sites among others by 16S rDNA amplicon sequencing and investigting funcional genes are the main research focuses. Furthermore, development of genetic tools for microbes with environmental origin in order to utilize their potential; for example studying mycotoxin degrading microbes, mapping their enzymatic pathways with the help of transcriptomics.
