Having a background in economics, my original research area centres around the cost-benefit analysis of different aquaculture systems and technologies. Using mainly model-based tools, I investigate economic issues both at farm-level and industry-level. I participated in international socio-economic studies investigating the opportunities and constraints of aquaculture growth, diversification of industry, role of production factors, etc. In last couple of years, I started to focus on mathematical models simulating production process in aquaculture, including the impacts of certain managerial interventions and effects of changing environment. Falling in line with this direction, an important research topic was the simulation of climate change effects on pond aquaculture and the pond food web. In next years, I will be engaged in a research aiming at the model-based assessment of ecosystem services of pond aquaculture.
