Fish have captivated him since his childhood, as his father was a fisherman, and this fascination continued to shape his academic journey. He obtained his Master degree from Wageningen University, specializing in fish genetics and breeding. Over the past two decades, he has engaged with diverse fish species across the globe, ranging from the American channel catfish to the Asian seabass. For the past ten years, he has been working for HAKI, (Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), within the Institute of Aquaculture and Environmental Safety (AKI) at the Research Center for Fisheries and Aquaculture (HAKI)). Recently, he became the Head of the Department of Fish Biology and the Fish Genetics and Breeding Research Group. His involvement also extends to the gene conservation efforts of HAKI, where he currently oversees the management of the common carp and sturgeon live gene bank.
