My research is focussed on sturgeons taking into account both aquaculture and nature conservation aspects. Using biotechnologic tools I focus on the possibilities of controlling the sex cycle of sturgeons on the one hand, and on confirming vulnerable sturgeon stocks of high genetic value on the other hand. Thus, the development of uniparental reproduction methods in sturgeon is a particularly important area of research for me. My other main area of research is controlling the karyotype of different fish species by applying pressure shock to create different polyploid stocks. However, determining the degree of pressure required for each species needs further research.
