László Ardó’s main field of research is the enhancement of innate (non-specific) immune response and disease resistance of fish by application of immunostimulants. He has been studying this topic since 2004, using in vitro and in vivo experimental methods. In addition to the characteristic parameters of innate immune response, he studies the expression of genes involved in immune reaction. Later this field of study was extended with similar topics, like the effects of stress on innate immune response and the correlation between genetic background and disease resistance. Since 2019, he has been dealing with determination of biomass of invasive fish species, based on the quantitative measurement of environmental DNA.
