My main research area targets the control over the reproductive cycle in domesticated pikeperch. I conducted studies and published scientific articles dealing with seasonal, pre-seasonal and off-seasonal artificial reproduction with special emphasis on egg quality and its relation to oocyte development during the vitellogenesis and maturation. In my recent work I described the growth of late-vitellogenetic and post-vitellogenetic oocytes in fish reared in both outdoor and controlled environment. My main target thus far was to evaluate the oocyte diameter corresponding to optimal moment for hormonal induction. Gathering sufficient amount of data to assess the oocyte competence for hormonally induced maturation based on diameter monitoring, I decided to take the research on another level. Namely, in future project I aim at developing in vitro oocyte maturation protocol and relate its dynamics to the in vivo maturing oocytes.
